Common area crime can happen at mailrooms, laundry rooms, fitness centers, pools, and leasing offices. Break-ins and theft don’t just cause direct physical and financial loss to the property owner. They also harm the apartment community’s reputation. Rental units can be harder to lease. Rents can become more difficult to raise.
