Apartment Surveillance System Helps Locate Shooting Suspect

Posted by Chris O' Rourke on Dec 6, 2017

An apartment surveillance system can help deter criminal activity like vandalism and theft. It can also help police officers locate suspects after a crime has been committed. Trained security specialists can strategically place and install outdoor surveillance cameras in apartment parking garages, breezeways, parking lots, mailboxes and other common areas.

One apartment surveillance system was able to help Dallas Police locate an armed suspect.

Male Shooter Arrested at Dallas Apartment

An apartment surveillance operator saw a car pull into a residential parking lot. The passenger exited the car holding a shotgun. The driver then got out in an apparent attempt to convince the passenger to return to the car. A Stealth apartment surveillance operator called the Dallas Police. The passenger, who had walked out of camera view, re-entered the car. They drove away and parked at a different building.

The Dallas Police arrived at the apartment complex, but the vehicle in question was not there. Later that morning, a Dallas Police officer called Stealth to say that the male passenger was involved in a shooting in which a woman was shot in the chest. He was caught and arrested.

Another Stealth apartment surveillance client, located in Houston, Texas, had a different experience. An apartment surveillance monitor saw two suspects attempt to steal mail. Stealth called the Houston Police, who arrived at the complex and arrested the suspects.

Apartment violence is nothing new. An apartment surveillance camera recorded an assault and robbery at a New York City apartment complex. The surveillance video showed three teenage boys sneak up behind a man and punch him. The man fell to the ground and the teens ran off.

Minutes later, the teenage boys returned and attacked the man. They kicked and punched him repeatedly and stole his wallet, which contained $10. Neither live apartment surveillance monitoring nor an arrest were reported.
