Business Security Camera Systems Record Armed Robbery Suspects

Posted by Rick Charney on Jul 27, 2016

Why buy business security camera systems if nobody is watching? That was what happened according to the following crime reports where three stores and shopping centers with video surveillance were robbed by armed thieves.

Camera systems alone can only record criminal activity to try to identify suspects after the crime has been committed. In comparison security cameras can help deter criminal activity when video control operators watch them live and call police about crimes in-progress.

Business security camera systems recorded a Portland area armed robbery at a jewelry store located in Woodburn, Oregon. Woodburn police reported that three suspects came to the store the day before the armed robbery. On the day of the robbery camera system video showed the suspects with handguns. Jewelry and high-end watches were stolen.

Local news reported that the robbery suspects left the Oregon jewelry store in a Mitsubishi Outlander headed toward the highway. The Portland suspects have not been caught.

A Houston, Texas area Harris County smoke shop was also a victim of armed robbery. The suspect walked into the commercial property in the early afternoon. One of the smoke shop employees asked the suspect if he needed assistance. The suspect left the business after looking at a smoke pipe.

The suspect returned to the smoke shop with an armed accomplice. The accomplice was armed with a short-barreled shotgun. Business security camera systems showed the accomplice aim the shotgun at the employee. The employee was ordered to empty the register. The first suspect shoved the employee to the ground.

The Harris County Deputies said that the suspects left the commercial property in a Mitsubishi Galant. Video from the security cameras was released by the Harris County, Texas Sheriff’s office.

A third business was hit in Blemont, North Carolina. According to NBC Charlotte, the suspect walked into a Charlotte are convenience store in the early morning. The armed suspect jumped over the counter. The employee was forced into open the register and the safe.

The suspect fled the scene in a silver Mitsubishi truck. The employee was not injured. Local authorities later found the Mitsubishi abandoned on the North Carolina Interstate 85 ramp.
