As soon as Hurricane Harvey hit Houston and its surrounding cities, Stealth’s emergency flood services kicked into gear. The review plan helped ensure the safety of the employees and residents of our commercial client properties in the impacted areas. Stealth clients  experienced the benefits of live monitoring during a natural disaster.

The emergency flood services team compiled a video from some of our business property clients before and after the storm.

What are the Benefits of Emergency Flood Services During A Hurricane?

1) Crime Prevention

Stealth remote video surveillance service watches a client’s property after employees go home for the day. During times of extreme weather like flooding, client employees were not able to drive or travel to their sites.  Stealth Monitoring classified impacted areas as high-priority sites and watched them 24 hours a day.

The hurricane’s high winds and flooding made area business vulnerable to looting, theft, and crime.  Houston’s mayor announced a curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m since many locations didn’t have police and emergency response coverage and many homes and businesses were abandoned. .  TV and newspaper media reported  several cases of criminal activity at devastated areas. Armed robbers hijacked vehicles and impersonated Homeland Security investigators. One Houston resident recorded a theft. Two men walked out of a big box store carrying objects. One of the suspects had a large television on top of his head.

2) Safety Alerts

The Stealth emergency response team relied heavily on communicating via mobile devices with commercial property owners and managers regarding the condition of their site. The alerts  included how much flooding was on the outside or inside of the property, property damage, and unauthorized activity on the commercial property.

Stealth Control Center staff also updated property managers about the area surrounding the property. The impacted area may have flooded streets, broken trees, or exposed wires and power lines. The team also let managers know when their property was clear for staff to return.

Stealth Monitoring and UCIT Online are the leader in live video surveillance in the U.S. and Canada with over 400 employees, 9 offices, and 3 live video monitoring control centers.
