Loiterer Uses Construction Site as Personal Laundry Room

Posted by Blake Mitchell on May 10, 2021

Late one night, a Stealth Monitoring security operator saw an individual carrying a few bags walk up the steps of a newly constructed housing unit. The suspect attempted to open the door but was unsuccessful. He pulled out what looked like a hair dryer from one of the bags, as well as a pair of pants. He plugged the dryer into the outside outlet and began to dry the clothing.

Due to this strange behavior, our operator called to dispatch police. Officers arrived within minutes. After questioning the suspect, they placed him in their patrol car.

Being proactive with your security solution can help prevent and/or minimize unwanted behavior like loitering. Live video monitoring uses a combination of video analytics and human intelligence to watch for crimes in progress. When analytics-based security cameras pick up on suspicious behavior, they alert a trained security operator who can quickly take action. In this video, that meant calling to dispatch police.

When police departments receive a call from Stealth, they know we are watching live activity, so they typically escalate the priority level. This will often result in officers arriving on the scene while the suspects are still there.
