Arrest of Trespasser Doing Drugs in Broad Daylight at a Shopping Center

Posted by Brandon Koepnick on Aug 13, 2021

In this month’s video, we caught a man kneeling on the sidewalk doing drugs in front of a shopping center in California.

At 2:45 on the afternoon of a holiday weekend, a Stealth Monitoring security operator saw a male individual next to a loaded shopping cart in front of a California retail center. The man knelt on the sidewalk and appeared to be fiddling with some paper, acting very suspiciously. Our operator made the determination to contact local police.

The individual was then seen putting something in his mouth and lighting it. When he noticed the responding officer walking towards him he quickly put the object he was trying to light into the front pocket of his jeans.

The officer approached the suspect and told him to stand up. With hands placed behind his head, the suspect was then questioned and searched by the officer.

The police officer found the lighter and rolled paper in the loiterer’s pocket. He then handcuffed the individual and walked him towards his patrol car.

Don’t Let Loiterers on Your Property Harm Your ROI

When people linger outside of your retail center they can scare away potential customers, especially if they are participating in questionable activity.

Live video monitoring is a cost-effective solution for helping to deter unwanted behavior at your property. Using analytics-based cameras, trained security operators can monitor your property to help keep an eye on things. Unlike security guards who can only be in one place at a time, we can watch multiple areas of your property simultaneously and for up to 60 percent less cost. When our operators see something suspicious, they can make a quick determination and take action.

Because police know we are watching live activity, they often elevate the priority level of the call. This also increases the chances they will arrive while the suspect or suspects are still there, just as you saw in the video.
