Watch the Video: Criminal Arrested: TRESPASSER CAUGHT BEHIND OFFICE COMPLEX - Live Video Monitoring

At 2:30 a.m., a man wearing a backpack is spotted pushing a cart across the parking lot behind a Dallas office complex. A trained video surveillance operator sees the suspicious activity and activates a warning speaker. The suspect ignores the alert and continues his search.

Trespassers and loiterers are common problems for shopping centers and office parks after hours. They represent a number of potential liability risks. Proactive live video monitoring can watch your perimeter fences, gates, roofs, loading docks, alleys, parking lots and other outdoor assets when no one is there. When trained operators see suspicious activity, they can activate speaker warnings and call the police.

The surveillance operator, still watching the activity, calls the authorities. A police car arrives as the trespasser rummages through the garbage dumpster. Two officers exit the car. The suspect rolls the cart towards the police car. He releases his grip on the cart, removes his backpack and takes off running. The male officer, still grasping his flashlight, chases the suspect across the parking lot and tackles him. The female officer steps in to help restrain the trespasser as a second police car arrives. The two arresting officers assist the injured suspect to his feet and escort him to their car.

Do you know what’s happening at your property when you’re not there? High resolution PTZ cameras are excellent for live video monitoring. They can see across parking lots and other long distances. A Stealth operator can control the PTZ camera remotely to zoom in for close-up details. The video can help police identify, find and catch criminals when they arrive on-site.

Best Video Surveillance System for Winter Weather Theft

Criminal activity and behavior change with the seasons. During the summer, crime against people rises. In the winter, there is an increased amount of reported property theft, which makes it more critical to have the best video surveillance system in place. Property theft can occur at shopping centers, medical office spaces, flex space properties, multfamily apartments, car dealerships and other types of commercial properties.

According to a study called The Influence of the Seasons of Crime Rate, there are several hypotheses as to why theft goes up during the winter season. One popular theory is that basic human needs increase due to the pressures of finding shelter and reliable transportation during the cold weather. This can lead to car theft, food theft, and other types of property theft.
