Suspect Caught on Camera Using Ladder to Access California Apartment

Posted by Jamie Lynch on Mar 7, 2023

Residents in multifamily communities rely on their property owners and management to maintain a safe and secure environment, rather than taking precautions themselves beyond locking their doors and windows.

Multifamily residential communities, however, are also frequent targets for thefts and burglaries. This means that those in the multifamily residential community industry need high-performance and cost-effective security solutions both they and their residents can rely on.

At 12:57 a.m., a Stealth security professional monitoring a California apartment community noticed an individual who had been seen inside the building in front of a closed apartment door on a different camera wandering around, then approaching the building with a ladder. This behavior was determined to be suspicious, and local police dispatch was contacted immediately. Within minutes, officers arrived onsite and were able to locate the individual and place them under arrest. Officers were later seen exiting the apartment the suspect had originally appeared on camera in front of.

Help Keep Your Multifamily Residential Community Secure with Live Video Monitoring

Multifamily residential communities are often targeted by burglars because they represent a high concentration of possible targets. Crimes of opportunity are also a concern- when entrances and individual apartments are left unlocked, criminals will take advantage.

Live video monitoring can help deter and disperse unwanted and criminal activity by interceding before a crime is committed. Stealth’s live video monitoring uses a combination of technology and human intelligence to monitor your property in real time, watching for suspicious activity, and responding quickly according to site protocols. The cutting-edge technology of analytics-based cameras allows for the detection of activity rather than simple movement, and the highly trained security professionals observing can determine when intervention is needed.

Security operators can sound onsite alarms, which often deters criminals. When that isn’t enough, they can contact onsite security or local police dispatch. Thanks to our ability to provide detailed real-time information, police typically elevate the priority of our calls and respond quickly, just as in the case above.
