Loitering on Construction Site Leads to Arrest

Posted by Arun Mankotia on Jan 11, 2022

Any time a construction site is unmanned, it can invite trespassers. Especially when a gate is left open. The intruders could not only cause significant and costly damage to the project, they could harm themselves in the process.

Three individuals approached an opened gate of a construction site and entered. They remained in the area for several minutes. One of the trespassers dropped to the ground then backed up toward the side of the building and remained seated. It appeared the suspect was looking at his phone. One of his friends joined him on the ground while the third exited the property.

One of our trained security operators was watching the activity and called to dispatch local police. The third individual returned to the area. The trio huddled together next to the brick wall, then two of them walked back to the open gate and left.

The remaining trespasser stood against the wall, appearing to be smoking something. He then sat down on the ground. A group of officers arrived and approached the seated intruder. He was placed in handcuffs and escorted from the site.

Take Quick Action Against Construction Trespassers and Loiterers

When trespassers access a construction site, they can undermine the valuable work that’s been done. This can cause significant delays to the project and negatively impact your budget and timeline.

A proactive security solution like remote video monitoring can help protect your valuable assets. Trained security operators watch onsite cameras to identify and help deter crime before it happens. In this video, our operator was alerted to the breach and kept watchful eyes on the trespassers. When it was determined they weren’t leaving on their own, our monitoring operator intervened by calling police.

Responding officers were at the scene while at least one of the suspects was still there. Because we are watching activity in progress, this is often the result. Additionally, our solution comes with the added benefit of recording and archiving site activities 24/7 so you can have video evidence should anything happen on the property.
