Potential Car Break-In Video Review Request

Posted by Alex Godwin-Austen on Feb 26, 2021

In this video, you see someone walking through the parking garage of an apartment building tugging on vehicle door handles.

The individual weaves in and out between the cars trying to gain access. Eventually, he finds an unlocked door to a white SUV. He gets into the vehicle and then quickly exits, carrying a bag. He can then be seen leaving the garage.

Much later, two females approach the vehicle. One is pulling a suitcase. They load it into the back, enter the SUV and drive away.

What Happens During Non-Monitoring Hours?

What you just saw was a crime. The property management team was notified about a break-in to the SUV. The incident occurred outside of the contracted live monitoring hours, which are typically nightly from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. That means, based on the contract with this property, no one was watching the cameras in real time before and after those hours. Even so, our cameras continued to record.

Once the property manager notified Stealth of the incident, our video review team went to work. They researched hours of footage from the weekend until they found what they needed. They pieced together an edited clip and presented it the property manager. The clip was shared with police to help in their investigation.
