Shirtless Trespasser Spotted Wandering Around Auto Dealership in the Early Morning Hours

Posted by Jeff Purtell on Aug 13, 2021

In this month’s video, no shirt, no service got one trespasser a ride in a police cruiser.

Around 7 o’clock in the morning, a Stealth Monitoring security operator spotted a shirtless individual carrying a backpack strolling around the lot of an auto dealership. At some point, he discarded the backpack then continued walking around the lot.

Even though ambling around a dealership does not always lead to a larger theft, it is trespassing on private property and often could lead to more unwanted behavior. Trespassers could be scoping out the property for a future criminal act or just trying to disguise their later intent.

Based on the custom protocols for the site and standard operating procedures, our operator kept an eye on the suspect, then called to dispatch local police. One police cruiser arrived, and the officer exited the vehicle. A second cruiser then entered the scene. The responding officers located the suspect with his backpack siting in a grassy area of the dealership.

All three people stepped over the low barricade and walked towards the police cruisers. One of the officers was carrying the suspect’s backpack. He reached inside, pulled out a white t shirt and handed it to the trespasser. The individual put the shirt on as he entered the back of one of the cruisers.

Keep a Watchful Eye on Your Dealership After Hours

The best security solution for an auto dealership is a multifaced approach that includes incorporates proper lighting, barriers, well-trained employees and video surveillance.

However, not all video surveillance systems are created equally. A remotely monitored solution combines trained security personnel with analytics-based cameras and site level protocols to deliver a customized security solution based on the needs of the dealership. These operators can watch your property in real time to monitor and react to live activity.

Having a team actively watching your lot when you’re not there can be the difference between potentially catching the suspect(s) while they’re still on the scene and changing the outcome to being left with a very costly problem on video the next morning. As you saw in the video, the Stealth Monitoring team acted swiftly to make sure no further theft or escalation occurred at that dealership. Even though ambling around a dealership lot isn’t necessarily a crime, it could lead to unwanted behavior. Trespassers could be scoping out the property for a future criminal act.
