Watch the Video: Repeat Burglar Arrested on Seattle Construction Site
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, you get arrested by police.
At 3:46am, a trespasser walks on a Seattle, Washington industrial construction site. He wears a hooded jacket and keeps his head covered so he can’t be identified by a security camera. He ignores the Keep Out sign. The thief carries two spools of wire and kicks one under the fence. He jumps the fence.
Our building security monitors had previously seen the burglar on the property when he originally stole the cable. He was returning to the scene of the crime. A building security monitor calls the Seattle Police. Police calls for an actual crime in progress typically get higher priority. As a result, police can respond quicker when live video monitoring is used.
Responding officers arrive at the Seattle construction site. The thief immediately surrenders and places himself on the floor. Seattle Police handcuff the criminal and take him into custody.
What Makes the Best Security Guards?
Highly trained security guards can be a business asset. The best guards are highly trained and able to handle emergency situations. However, guards can also have significant disadvantages. Security guard services are typically very expensive. A security guard cannot be at multiple places at once. Many security guards are not adequately trained. Guards that intercept trespassers can pose a significant liability risk for businesses. Areas such as alleyways and rooftops may be inaccessible to security guards.
For some companies the best solution combines on-site guards with live video monitoring, which can complement and fill in their weaknesses. Live video monitoring can help combat the disadvantages of even the best security guards and cost much less.
