Construction Site Vagrancy Issue Resolved in Real Time

Posted by Paul Gross on May 1, 2023

Vagrancy issues are one among many that plague construction jobsites. While most vagrancy and vandalism problems simply cause damages and timeline interruptions, there can be additional liabilities and security concerns, including risks to tradesmen and other onsite employees.

A recent incident at a Texas construction business resulted in vagrants threatening a construction worker who had arrived on the jobsite with a knife.

Examples like the one above make it more important than ever to have effective, proactive security solutions on every jobsite.

In the above video, Stealth security professionals spotted a male subject on a Utah construction site just after 7:30 p.m. A closer look revealed the individual was wandering throughout the property, and operators immediately activated onsite speakers to warn them off the premises. Local law enforcement was also contacted, and police were dispatched to the site. Officers arrived and were able to quickly locate the individual and escort them safely from the property.

Live Video Surveillance Helps Protect Your Jobsite from Trespassing and Other Unwanted Activity

Construction sites present unique security challenges, given their often-sprawling layouts, fluctuation throughout the site’s progress, and the need to keep both valuable equipment and materials outdoors. As seen above, they also make appealing targets for those looking for a place to hide or sleep, which can lead to additional issues.

Typical security measures, like perimeter fencing and security guards, are reactive. They may deter some criminal or unwanted activity, but they are often not enough. Stealth’s live video monitoring is a proactive solution and can help deter and disperse criminal and other unwanted activity at your jobsites in real time.

Trained Stealth security operators monitor customized, analytics-based surveillance feeds to catch and respond to activity as it happens. Our construction security video monitoring system has the added benefit of recording and archiving site activities 24/7, allowing for versatile functionality and site management as well.

When our operators spot someone or something out of place, they can activate onsite speaker warnings, contact local law enforcement, and follow up with site contacts as well for a complete security resolution.
