Who’s Watching Your Property During Severe Weather Conditions?

Posted by Amy Hite on Apr 6, 2018

On April 3, 2018, the National Weather Service announced that a severe weather outbreak, including flash floods, extreme winds, tornadoes and large hail, could put 50 million Americans at risk from Kentucky to Texas. Commercial properties are also at risk because the threat of criminal activity doesn’t completely go away in intense weather conditions.

Many businesses rely on a security guard service to patrol their property and deter criminal activity. However, it may be difficult for security guards to see and perform their duties during snow or rain storms, which could leave a property vulnerable to crime. Fortunately, there is a safer alternative.

Live remote video monitoring is an affordable, effective way to view your property, even in extreme weather conditions. Weatherproof surveillance cameras are strategically placed around your commercial property and are watched by trained security operators who are safely located in a remote monitoring center. The service can supplement a security guard during stormy weather and can also help protect a property from looters, property damage and other undesirable activity when nobody is around.

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit multiple communities in the southern United States, including Houston, Texas. During this period of severe weather, Stealth Monitoring was able to continue watching our clients’ properties. Not only did our security operators look out for any wrongdoing, they were able to provide property managers with updates about the conditions at their establishments, so they could start disaster recovery plans even before the flood waters receded several days later.

Take a look at this video to see before and after footage we captured during the severe weather of Hurricane Harvey.

A recent CNN report says the 2018 hurricane season could be as busy as the 2017 season. It’s never too early to start planning. Severe weather can be a security nightmare for commercial properties, but Stealth Monitoring can be a strategic partner in disaster planning and recovery.
