Pair of Texas Apartment Lot Prowlers Caught Red-Handed Attempting Multiple Vehicle Burglaries

Posted by Eric Nauta on Oct 13, 2023

Vehicle thefts and burglaries have experienced exponential spikes across North America, and in Texas, the problem has seasoned detectives shaking their heads as several cities set new records for the crime.

According to Dallas County detective Walter Clifton, who was quoted in a CBS News Texas report, “They’re getting more brazen- they’re stealing them in broad daylight now.” He went on to say that he’s never seen a spike like the one currently occurring in the state.

Multifamily residential communities, shopping and retail centers, automotive dealerships– all are frequent targets for these brazen thieves. Apartment communities, in particular, with their relatively easily accessible variety of resident vehicles, make particularly appealing targets.

In this Arrest of the Month video, a pair of lot prowlers seeking open vehicles to burglarize were caught on camera thanks to the community’s wise decision to utilize live video monitoring. Watch what happened below:

At approximately 4:05 a.m., two individuals were spotted by Stealth security professionals attempting to access multiple vehicles in a Texas apartment community parking lot. Audible alarms were immediately activated, and local police dispatch contacted with details and descriptions of the suspects. Responding officers arrived onsite quickly and appeared to take one of the suspects into custody.

Help Deter and Disperse Criminal Activity in Your Parking Facilities with Live Video Monitoring

Multifamily residential communities have a lot of ground to cover to ensure comprehensive and effective security. One of the most critical spots to protect? Parking lots and garages. Criminals seek out communities where many vehicles are parked close together and overnight, where they can potentially access many vehicles quickly, stealing valuables, GPS systems, electronics, catalytic converters, and even the vehicles themselves. Multifamily residential communities also rely on a sense of safety and security to keep residents comfortable and happy, and vehicle-related crime can have a significant negative impact on the reputation and perception of safety of a community.

Help protect your residents and property from thieves, vandals, loiterers, and other unwanted or criminal activity by incorporating a proactive security solution into your perimeters, entrances, amenities, and parking, and other common areas. Stealth’s live video monitoring can help prevent and deter criminal activity in real time.
