In this month’s video, two suspects attempt to break into parked cars, then steal packages from the mailroom. We called police who arrived with guns drawn.
Just before 3 a.m., two individuals were seen trying to access multiple vehicles in the parking garage of a California apartment community. After several unsuccessful attempts, the pair made their way to the building’s mailroom where they spotted unopened packages lying on the floor. The suspects gathered the boxes in their arms and headed to the elevator. A trained Stealth security operator contacted local authorities.
The suspects placed the packages on the floor in front of the elevator and walked away. They returned with a garbage bag and proceeded to fill it with the boxes.
Police officers arrived at the building’s door with their guns drawn, aimed at the suspects. The pair walked out of the building and into police custody.
With more people limiting face-to-face interactions, online shopping is seeing a surge in activity. Now that the holidays are upon us, that will undoubtedly get worse. For thieves looking for quick opportunities, it doesn’t get any easier than unattended mailrooms and lobbies.
Help Deter Package Theft with Live Video Monitoring
As an owner or manager, you have a responsibility to secure your property. A proactive security solution such as live video monitoring can help detect and deter crime, like car break-ins and package theft, while reducing security guard and other expenses.
Trained security operators using analytics-based cameras can monitor multiple common areas of a property at the same time, including mailrooms, lobbies, laundry rooms and parking facilities. If anything suspicious is detected, they can activate on-site speaker warnings and call local authorities.
Security is one of the most desirable amenities for apartment hunters. Investing in the right solution can help safeguard your property and increase your ROI.
