Construction sites are vulnerable to trespassers and other intruders after workers and contractors leave for the day. In this video, our security operators watched as a car raced into a vacant construction site and plowed into a forklift. The driver backed up and continued to drive erratically through the site, eventually crashing into a pole. When police arrived, the driver appeared to be passed out in the front seat of his vehicle. Responding officers roused the driver, pulled him from the car and placed him under arrest.
Every year, people get hurt on construction sites, even when they weren’t supposed to be there in the first place. If someone is trespassing on the property, the landowner can still be responsible for injuries. When accidents result in equipment damage, repairing or replacing it can be costly.
A proactive video monitoring solution can help deter criminal activity at construction sites. Trained surveillance operators watch construction sites in real time during monitoring hours. If they see something suspicious, they can activate a speaker warning to deter criminals and call local authorities. Police tend to respond faster to these calls because live surveillance video is proof of a crime in progress.
