When people loiter at an apartment building, it can make residents, their guests and staff feel unsafe. This unwanted behavior can also have negative impacts on the property’s reputation and ultimately the NOI.
Around 1:30 in the morning, a Stealth Monitoring security operator observed an individual outside of an apartment building. The person seemed to be searching through the trash bin, then remove what appeared to be food. The subject sat down to eat. A little later, the suspect approached the building entrance and tugged on the locked door handles. When the doors wouldn’t open, the individual lay down on the ground in front of them.
Our operator called to dispatch police on the loiterer. Moments later, responding officers safely removed the individual from the property.
Don’t Let Crime Drive Away Your Residents
When residents, their guests and even potential residents see people hanging around your property, they may not feel safe entering. They have no way of knowing if those individuals are dangerous or not. We’ve said it many times before, when your residents don’t feel comfortable where they live, they will seek a safer haven. And that will cost you a lot of money.
Live video monitoring can proactively help deter unwanted activity. Analytics-based cameras can be placed strategically around your property, then monitored by trained security operators. If they see something out of the ordinary, they can take action immediately to help diffuse the situation.
In this video, our operator kept watch to make sure that not only was the property safe, but so, too was the loiterer. Our security professional contacted police who arrived to remove the individual safely. No harm. No foul.
