While most petty thieves troll parking lots for open vehicles or head to easily accessible mailrooms to snatch packages, some have a very specific motive and route planned when they target a multifamily residential community. Case in point- this Arrest of the Month video, where a thief had one thing in mind: brazen bicycle burglary.
The bad news for this burglar? Stealth could see everything he was up to.
At around 1:55 a.m., a Stealth security operator spotted a suspicious individual slipping through a gate before heading to an interior door and breaking in at a California apartment building. Onsite alarms were sounded but the brazen burglar was undeterred. Local police were immediately contacted as operators continued to monitor the suspect, who gained access to the bike storage room and began removing bikes. The suspect can then be seen leaving the area, before police were able to locate and ultimately apprehend him.
Help Protect Your Property, Residents, and Facilities with Live Video Monitoring
Effective security measures are a critical aspect of residential property management. For many rental property residents, their property being safely stored where they reside is a major factor behind their decision to rent.
Proactive security solutions can help deter and disperse unwanted criminal activity like theft, loitering, trespassing, vandalism, and more- before any damage or liability risks occur.
Stealth’s live video monitoring uses a combination of analytics-based cameras and trained security professionals to observe your property, watching for suspicious activity rather than simple movement. When our operators spot something or someone behaving in a way that looks out of place or is a cause for concern, they can sound audible alarms onsite or contact local police when needed.
Police typically respond quickly and can intervene before a situation escalates. This helps minimize potential dangers to residents, damage to the property, and reduce liability risks as well.
