Car Parts Theft at Wholesale Business

Posted by Blake Mitchell on Dec 8, 2020

At approximately 4:25 a.m., a Stealth Monitoring security operator saw an individual crawling under a car parked behind a Dallas wholesale/distribution business. The suspect could be seen removing parts from underneath the vehicle. Our operator contacted police immediately.

Officers arrived as the culprit was getting back into his car. He sped past responding officers in their attempt to detain him. Stealth’s video review team provided Dallas police with footage of the incident to aid in their investigation.

While it’s true most thieves break into cars to steal things like electronics and purses, many are also interested in various parts of the car. Especially those containing valuable metals that can be resold on the black market for big money.

Among the most popular parts at risk of being stolen are:

  • Batteries
  • Wheels
  • Custom valve stem caps
  • Catalytic converters

Live video monitoring is an effective security solution to help catch activity as it happens. Trained security operators monitor live, analytics-based cameras to watch for crimes in progress. If they see something suspicious, they can respond quickly to help minimize or prevent damage. This proactive solution is typically up to 60 percent more cost-effective than traditional guards.
