Colorado Office Building Storage Break-in Busted with Live Video Monitoring

Posted by Shawna Ivy on Oct 13, 2023

A Department of Justice report released in March of 2023 revealed that the state of Colorado had both the highest rate of violent crime victimizations among the 22 most-populous states and the second highest rate of property crimes according to data collected from 2017-2019. In fact, the report goes as far as stating that Colorado sits “significantly higher than the U.S. rate,” in both violent and property crimes for the three-year period.

With both property and violent crime in the state at worrying levels, it becomes abundantly clear that commercial real estate owners and operators across the state need effective and proactive security solutions to protect their businesses, tenants, and property from criminal and other unwanted activity.

In this Arrest of the Month video, Stealth cameras caught a suspicious person on the property at a Colorado office tower. Watch the video below to see what happened next.

Just after 11:00 p.m., Stealth security professionals spotted a suspicious individual accessing the storage area at a Colorado office tower on live video surveillance. Observing security operators immediately activated onsite alarms and contacted local authorities due to the nature of the activity observed. Officers arrived quickly and placed the suspect under arrest.

A Proactive Security Solution for Office Buildings and Other Commercial Properties

While the Department of Justice report focused on data collected from 2017-2019, a CPR.org report references statewide data reflecting that violent crime in Colorado increased by 17% between 2019 and 2021, with murder rates rising a stunning 47% in those two years. Property crime rates for that same period showed property crime having risen 20%, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

While many commercial properties rely on unmonitored cameras and expensive security guards to monitor their buildings and surrounding lots for suspicious or criminal activity, these solutions are often insufficient. Unmonitored cameras are unable to stop a crime in progress- and guards are both cost-restrictive and have limited visibility.

Stealth Monitoring’s customized live video monitoring, however, is both cost-effective and proactive. With a customized layout of analytics-based surveillance cameras strategically placed throughout the property, and highly trained security professionals remotely monitoring live surveillance feeds, Stealth can help deter and disperse criminal and other unwanted activity on a property in real time, as it happens.

Just as you see in the video above, when Stealth’s trained security operators see someone or something out of place, they can take immediate action, sounding onsite alarms or contacting local police dispatch when needed, to help intervene in unwanted activity on your property quickly and before significant damage can occur.
