Gun-Toting Suspect Arrested at Louisiana Apartment Complex

Posted by Tammy Miller on Oct 11, 2022

Multifamily communities rely on their property management to maintain a safe, secure, and desirable environment to live in. With gun violence an ever-increasing risk, individuals carrying firearms in common spaces present a major security red flag.

In this video, around 7:30 p.m. local time, two individuals are spotted entering the laundry facilities of an apartment community. One of the individuals is carrying a firearm. A Stealth Monitoring security operator quickly reached out to the on-site security officer and notified them of the suspicious activity. Local law enforcement was also contacted and dispatched to the community due to the nature of the security threat observed.

The security officer is seen patrolling the area, and shortly after the responding police officers make contact with the individuals, taking one into custody.

Resident Safety is a Primary Community Concern

For a multifamily residential property, safety and security concerns of residents are vital components to the overall success of the community as a whole. When residents feel unsafe, they’ll likely look for other options when it’s time to renew their lease. When a community develops a reputation for crime or criminal activity, it will draw more of that behavior to the area.

When people in the community are seen casually handling firearms, it sends up an alarm for residents and their families. Gun violence is a top-of-mind concern for many. According to CDC data from 2020, 45,222 people died from gun-related injuries in the US. The following years were trending even higher.

Stealth’s live video monitoring is a proactive solution that can help deter crime and other negative behaviors as they happen. Just as in the above video, trained security professionals monitor live camera feeds to watch for suspicious or problematic behaviors. Operators follow site protocols determined by the property, and in this case contacted both the on-site security and police.

Quick action taken meant police were on site and placing the suspect under arrest moments after the threat was observed. Potential dangers averted, the community remained safe and secure.
