Marijuana dispensary security cameras watched an armed robbery. A security guard and two employees were held at gunpoint during the robbery at a Los Angeles, California-area medical marijuana shop. But the video was only recorded and not watched live. It couldn’t be used to alert police. Instead the video was used as evidence after the crime had been committed and to help identify the suspects.
The Garden Grove Police department released the store security camera video to the public. The police hoped it would help identify the second suspect.
Garden Grove Police received a call about a robbery at a local medical cannabis shop. Video from the dispensary security cameras showed two men enter the shop. Both wore dark colored hoodies. One suspect was armed with a handgun. The suspects approached the security guard who surrendered with his hands up. The dispensary security guard gave his gun to one of the suspects without a struggle. Two employees entered the dispensary security camera view. One suspect grabbed several jars of cannabis. The two weed store employees and security guard were told to get on the ground. One suspect pushed the medical marijuana dispensary security guard down.
The dispensary security cameras showed the armed suspect watch the security guard and employees while his accomplice packed the stolen weed into a duffle bag. The suspects also stole the guard’s gun, cell phones, and an undisclosed amount of cash. The thieves left the cannabis dispensary in a black Toyota Camry.
One suspect was arrested several days later in Orange County. According to the news article, the suspect was already on parole for a previous robbery. The second suspect was not captured.
