Security guards have long been regarded as the only effective solution to protecting Nevada shopping centers, apartment complexes, construction sites, storage facilities, car dealerships, office buildings and other types of commercial real estate businesses. While human presence on-site can go a long way in keeping criminals at bay, it may not be the most cost-effective solution.
For some commercial real estate companies in Nevada, having a security guard on-site can be cost prohibitive. According to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are over 21,000 security guards employed in Massachusetts The average pay rate for these guards is $15.16 per hour but can be a bit higher based on a variety of factors including experience level and whether the guards are armed or not. Because armed guards must have training in addition to a license to carry firearms, their rates are typically several dollars per hour more per guard. The costs for both can increase for nighttime shifts as risk increases.
