This shopping center company is a Stealth Monitoring client. The following commercial properties unfortunately aren’t. These shopping centers didn’t have reported proactive live video surveillance and suffered expensive crimes.
Three South Florida counties have been hit with a string of 15 robberies and assaults. These criminal activities occurred in one month and during both daylight and night hours. The victims were hit in parking lots, outside restaurants, and other public areas of shopping centers.
The suspects ambushed the victims and robbed them of cash, electronics, and cars. Five of the victims in Broward County were attacked with pepper spray. There was no reported shopping center protection such as video monitoring.
In Palm Beach County, suspects hit three shopping centers and one restaurant. Detectives say that the robbery suspects may be collaborating together. Authorities said that there were variances in the suspect’s appearances or methods, but there were similarities with getaway vehicles and crime locations.
Miami-Dade County had two incidents outside a supermarket chain. The suspects stole $140,000 worth of diamond jewelry from the victims. The Aventura Police sergeant said that they have improved shopping center protection by increasing patrols.
A spokesperson from one of the impacted grocery store said that shopping center surveillance is of the highest priority.
Two teenagers were arrested in January. The suspects were charged with charges of committing robbery, carjacking, and aggravated battery on a 73-year old woman.
A Delray Beach Police representative said that these incidents serve as a reminder for residents to remain focused while in public and be aware of who is around them.
