Unusual Attempt at Shopping Center Break-in Thwarted by Live Video Monitoring

Posted by Rick Charney on Sep 16, 2022

Businesses of all kinds have security challenges they face. Break-ins and other theft, vandalism, vagrants, and a variety of other crimes often occur in what the public may assume are public spaces.

In this Arrest of the Month video, a suspect attempting to break into a property in a rather unconventional way was taken into custody by local authorities before their behavior escalated into an actual break-in, thanks to the keen eye of a Stealth Monitoring security professional.

Around 3:15 in the morning, a Stealth Monitoring trained security professional spotted an individual repeatedly tossing a large object at the front of a property, attempting to break in. While the suspect’s attacks were disorganized, they may have eventually proven successful. However, the security operator had contacted local law enforcement. Officers were dispatched and made contact with the individual, who was swiftly taken into custody.

Help Deter Criminals Before They Cause Major Damages

Commercial spaces like shopping plazas, their parking lots, and even the alleyways and dumpster areas behind them can draw unsavory individuals, especially at night. Break-ins, drug dealing, and other criminal activity- even squatting or encampments- can happen in the overnight hours when businesses are closed.

Stealth’s proactive shopping center security solution can help reduce and deter criminal activity on your property. Our live monitoring service combines the technology of video analytics with the human intelligence of highly trained security professionals to spot and respond to security concerns in progress, acting when needed.

Just as you saw in the above video, when our security professionals see suspicious activity, they can call local law enforcement and help get officers to the scene while the suspects are still in the area. This often results in an arrest, and can mean less damage, loss, or liability concerns for the property owners as well.
