From accidents and injuries, to theft, vandalism, or expensive damages – the last thing any construction site manager wants to deal with is the fallout from trespassers. There are loads of people who are determined to access construction sites regardless of gates, guards, and fences- and these security standards alone can prove to be insufficient jobsite security measures.
In this video, a Stealth security professional monitoring a feed from a Washington construction site spots two individuals trespassing onto the site, having entered through the southeast corner at nearly 9:00 p.m. Both individuals were wearing backpacks, so their intentions could be theft from the site, or loitering. The operator sounded onsite speakers to warn the trespassers off the site, but they were unresponsive. The next steps were taken, and local police dispatch was contacted and informed of the live trespass, as well as given detailed descriptions of the individuals and their location. Police arrived shortly after, and ultimately took the trespassers into their custody.
Remote Video Monitoring Can Help Reduce Liabilities and Damages
Trespassing on a construction site, for any reason, is illegal. While charges and penalties may vary from state to state, the laws are similar: criminal trespass, burglary, loitering, vandalism- there are a myriad of criminal concerns.
General contractors, construction companies, and jobsite managers need effective security solutions in place to help reduce their risks and liabilities, and to aid in deterring trespassers and other criminal activity in the first place. Remote video monitoring in a proactive security solution that can do just that.
Stealth’s remote video monitoring uses a combination of analytics-based cameras and trained security operators to watch for suspicious or unusual activity as it happens, following site protocols and sounding alarms, contacting local police, and following up with site contacts according to instruction.
As in the video above, when operators act quickly and contact police dispatch, officers typically arrive on site in time to catch suspects while they remain in the area- and ideally before costly damages or potential injuries have occurred.
