Construction Materials Thief Receives Police Escort

Posted by Blake Mitchell on May 14, 2021

A Stealth Monitoring security operator was alerted to a trespasser on a Calgary construction site around 4:30 a.m. The suspect entered a storage building on the site, then re-emerged wearing reflective PPE and carrying some materials. The trespasser then found a large spool of wire. He cut off pieces of the wire and placed them in a bag.

Meanwhile, our security operator called to dispatch police and gave them details about the suspect, including his last known location. Officers arrived minutes later. They found the trespasser and arrested him.

Construction sites are filled with materials and equipment that make them easy targets for theft. If a site is hit by thieves, the losses can be devasting. Not only could the materials be expensive to replace, but there could also be a pause in production while waiting on their replacements. Not to mention, materials costs are rising through the roof.

This makes having an effective security solution even more important. Remote video monitoring can help protect your valuable assets and provide peace of mind when you’re not there. Trained security operators monitor analytics-based cameras to watch for suspicious activity. If the cameras pick up unusual movement, they will notify the operator who can quickly assess the situation and respond accordingly.

As you saw in the video, our operator contacted the authorities who were able to arrive while the suspect was still on the scene.
