Sparks Fly During Bike Theft

Posted by Blake Mitchell on May 12, 2021

A little before 4 o’clock in the morning, two people were spotted on bicycles in a San Diego apartment parking garage. One of our trained Stealth security operators saw them enter the bike room. The pair scoped out the inventory before selecting one near the front of the room. They took out a tool, possibly a grinder, and cut through the lock. Our operator called to dispatch police.

Once the bike was free, they were seen rolling it out of the garage. Officers arrived just as the suspects were leaving the property. We received confirmation that one of the bike thieves was apprehended.

Bike thefts have been on the rise since the start of the global pandemic. Your residents rely on you to help keep them and their belongings safe. You can start by supplementing or replacing your guard or courtesy patrol with live video monitoring. This proactive solution is an effective way to get rid of crime.

Trained security operators monitor live surveillance cameras for up to 60 percent less than the cost of traditional guards. We can see more of the property and work directly with local authorities to respond to criminal and unwanted activity in real time.
