Security Gate Guard Service

“We replaced the security guards on our hydro transformer station with live video monitoring. Since then we have lowered our security costs and received a superior security service for our site … even catching and notifying the fire department, preventing catastrophic loss. The results have been great.”

– Project Manager, Canada construction contractor & facility management

What does a security gate guard do?

A gate guard can be found in isolated and industrial areas such as the hydro plan in the quote, warehouses, oil/gas fields, solar energy farms, construction sites, and ranches. Gates with live security guards can also be found at multifamily apartments and office properties. Large commercial properties often charge a premium for a security gate. The premium would be higher if there were security guards on-site.

Gated commercial properties increase property attractiveness and value through the perception of additional security, safety, and privacy. A control access gate and gate guard serve as a security barrier from unauthorized foot and vehicle traffic.

Two examples of unauthorized traffic are trespassers and tailgaters. A gate guard watches visitors and can prevent unauthorized access. Another access control solution is to have each vehicle enter a gate keypad, access card, or remote to gain entry. Commercial properties can also install a high-speed access control arm to synchronize with the gate.

An on-site gate guard can be very expensive over time. The median salary of a security guard is over $24,000.

Is Your Self Storage Business Secure?

Self-storage facilities give thieves a high number of potential targets in a relatively small physical area. 9% of American households rent over 54,000 self-storage units, so self-storage security facility techniques are important. They can include installing lights, adding more complex locks, hiring a security guard, or installing a proactive security solution.

The first breach in self-storage security usually involves the outer gate, because the outer gate can easily be overcome by thieves if not watched by a gate guard. Thieves can jump over the security gate, smash the gate, cut a lock, or simply follow a self-storage unit owner.
