Stealth’s recycling center security solution utilized live video monitoring to protect an industrial property from vandalism and theft. In addition to being a crime deterrent, live video monitoring can also record activities to help companies mitigate liability. This surveillance service can be found at other commercial and industrial properties like lumber yards and scrap metal facilities.
Wire Thief Busted by Cops
A trespasser was seen walking through a scrap metal property. A trained Stealth recycling center security operator followed his movements with IP PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) surveillance cameras. After the suspect broke through the fence, the trained operator called the local authorities to report a breaking and entering and a potential property theft. Unaware of the police call, the suspect collected a large amount of wire and placed it on top of his bicycle.
As the suspect began to leave the property, outdoor surveillance operators continued to watch his activity with the recycling center security cameras. Local authorities caught up with him and placed him under arrest. The stolen wire was returned to the scrap metal facility.
Common Recycling Center Security and Industrial Property Security Concerns
Theft and Property Damage
Some industrial properties may be vulnerable to break-ins after contractors leave for the day. Many thieves and vandals know that most outdoor security cameras are not watched and if they hide their faces, it will decrease the likelihood of being identified.
One of the most common types of criminal activity at industrial properties is copper theft. Not only can this lead to monetary and material loss, it can cause enough damage to create work delays. The cost incurred from the property damage, combined with the added fees of extending the project, often exceed the value of the stolen copper.
Liability Protection
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there were nearly 5,000 reported construction site-related deaths in 2014. Insurance investigations and workers comp cases can cost construction companies millions of dollars.
Stealth has helped many clients end investigations and eliminate false liability claims. In 2016, We created almost 14,000 videos for clients, insurance companies, and local police.
