Trespasser Arrested after Vandalizing Construction Site

Posted by Neil Goulding on Jun 27, 2022

When a jobsite is vandalized or experiences a loss from theft, everyone suffers – contactors, insurance companies, and even equipment dealers. However, by taking proactive measures, you can help minimize the opportunity.

A Stealth Monitoring security operator saw an individual open a perimeter fence panel and enter a construction site after hours. The subject vandalized one of the walls of the building under construction before walking to the C-cans on the site. The trespasser then forced his way into the basement of the building.

Our security operator, who had been monitoring the situation, called to dispatch local police and gave them a description of the suspect, as well as his last known whereabouts. Officers arrived on the jobsite and located the suspect. He was promptly arrested and escorted from the site.

Protecting Jobsites from Theft and Vandalism

When a piece of equipment goes missing or part of a construction site is damaged during the course of the build, it can impact the project timeline and budget. The best way to keep things running smoothly is to help prevent those interruptions from happening in the first place.

A proactive security solution like remote video monitoring can help deter trespassers and other criminal activity before anything happens, and damage occurs. Trained security operators monitor analytics-based cameras to watch for suspicious activity. If something is detected, the security professional can evaluate the situation and take action.

As you saw in the video, our monitoring operator observed the intruder vandalize the building and go into hiding on the site. Police were contacted and given a description of the suspect. Our operator then kept watch as officers arrived, so they knew exactly where to find the trespasser and easily make an arrest. Quick action resulted in a quick arrest and minimal damage.
