Trespasser Caught in Action at Texas Construction Site

Posted by Evan Slattery on Sep 27, 2023

Theft from construction sites has always been an issue, but the supply chain slowdowns that began during the pandemic have created a thriving black market for construction materials, tools, and equipment that has driven the issue to new heights.

In Hays County, Texas, two suspects recently made off with a 2021 JLGT500 Boom Lift, along with a generator. In Northside Houston, construction crews experienced drive-by thefts of equipment in broad daylight, while at least five construction sites reported burglaries or thefts over the course of one week in Denton, Texas. The Denton thefts resulted in tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment losses.

Texas isn’t alone in dealing with these threats. Traditional security solutions, like perimeter fencing and lighting, are often not enough to keep thieves and trespassers at bay. Check out what happened when a trespasser targeted a construction client of Stealth’s, unaware that our cutting-edge surveillance, and highly trained security personnel, could see their every move.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., Stealth security operators were alerted to activity on a Texas construction project and observed an individual sneaking around the perimeter fencing area. Onsite audible alarms were activated, and while the suspect seemed momentarily deterred, they carried on with their activity, and ultimately made it onto the property. Stealth professionals immediately contacted local police dispatchers about the activity in progress, and officers arrived onsite shortly after. Responding officers located the suspect and took them into custody without further incident, and the property owners were contacted and notified of the activity observed.

Protect Your Jobsite from Trespassers and Thieves with a Proactive Security Solution

Barriers, perimeter fencing, and gates, as seen above and in dozens of other examples, can be easily breached when thieves or trespassers are determined. Security guards are expensive and have limited visibility- they can only observe and physically be in one place at a time.

Stealth’s remote video monitoring is a proactive, customizable, and cost-effective security solution that can help deter and disperse unwanted activity, like trespassing, vandalism, and theft, using a combination of cutting-edge technology and trained security professionals to monitor your jobsite in real time. Our staff of remote security operators watch for suspicious or unwanted activity and can respond immediately to help stop criminals before they can cause expensive losses and damage to your projects.

Additionally, Stealth’s cameras can be moved and adjusted as the jobsite progresses, allowing for effective security and peak visibility throughout a project, making live video monitoring an ideal security solution for ever-changing construction businesses.
