Warehouse Heist — Security Camera & Video Stolen in Florida

Posted by Sean Murphy on Aug 31, 2015

An audacious warehouse heist with a plan that seems straight out of the movies took place in Weston, FL earlier this month, wherein a team of burglars cut a hole in the roof of a warehouse filled with designer sunglasses and made off in vans stolen from a nearby business.

Local news station Local10 reports that, at some time over the weekend of the 14th of August while the location was closed, thieves cut their way through concrete and sheet metal to get inside the warehouse. Employees only discovered that there had been a robbery when they arrived at work on Monday morning to find their offices rummaged and inventory scattered across the floor.

Once inside the warehouse the intruders were able to disable the alarm system and remove the security cameras as well as the digital video recorder that stored the footage of their break-in. Undoubtedly erring on the side of caution, the warehouse cargo heist thieves took this video camera security equipment with them when they left.

Altogether the criminals made off with $100,000 worth of Fred, Boeing and Tag Heuer sunglasses. Though the police believe to know the street where the gang unloaded their ill-gotten cargo, and found the abandoned getaway vans nearby, there are no other reported leads.

A warehouse cargo heist like this might have been easily prevented with a proactive live surveillance system monitoring the outside perimeter, such roofs, doors, or parking lot surveillance cameras, etc.

This warehouse is not a client of Stealth Monitoring. Stealth proactive live surveillance can detect and deter crime in Florida and other location in the U. S. for greater security while reducing security guard and other expenses. A Stealth operator could have seen unusual activity like this warehouse heist’s access to the warehouse roof, activated an audible warning to deter the thieves and called the local police.
