Retail Security: Trespasser Tackled by Police

Posted by Rick Charney on October 22, 2019

In this month’s video, an inebriated trespasser gets tackled by police.

Our Stealth security operator spotted a suspect wandering around the back of a Des Moines, Iowa shopping center around 4:30 one morning. The trespasser appears to be under the influence as he looks at some furniture sitting near the dumpster. Based on his behavior, our security operator calls the police.

An officer arrives and is greeted with a wave. He performs a field sobriety test on the suspect. When the individual realizes he has likely failed the test, he attempts to make a run for it. However, he is quickly tackled by the officer who wrangles him towards the car and succeeds in placing handcuffs on the resistant young man. Other officers arrive and help escort the individual into a police van.

Why Shopping Centers Need Video Monitoring

Shopping center back alleys aren’t usually visible from the street, making them attractive to unwanted visitors. While loitering is not a serious offense, it can lead to more egregious crimes like vandalism and theft. Without effective security, your property can become an easy target, attracting repeat visitors.

Stealth Monitoring’s live video monitoring for commercial properties can help protect your valuable assets. Unlike traditional security systems that typically wait for a trigger to sound an alarm that alerts police after a crime occurs, our solution is proactive. Our trained security operators watch key areas of your property in real time to help prevent crimes before they happen. If they see anything suspicious, they can activate on-site speaker warnings and call police with live reports on the suspects.
